Ageism is defined as prejudice or discrimination against people on the grounds of their age.
There are now more people alive over the age of 65 than there are children under the age of five. Though the composition of the global population is changing, discrimination toward older people is still widespread. Research indicates that ageism may be more widespread than sexism or racism and that it has real consequences for older adults.

The IDRlabs Ageism Test (IDR-AT©) was developed by IDRlabs International. The IDR-AT is based on research by psychologists Katie Cherry and Erdman Palmore, in partnership with the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly and the University of Toronto. The IDR-AT was also informed by the work of researchers Lindsey Cary, Alison Chasteen, and Jessica Remedios of Tufts University. The IDR-AT is not associated with any of the above researchers or their affiliated research institutions.
The IDRlabs Ageism Test was informed by the Relating to Older People Evaluation (ROPE; Cherry and Palmore, 2008) and the Ambivalent Ageism Scale (AAS; Cary, Chasteen, and Remedios, 2016). The ROPE provides scores for positive and negative ageist behaviors, while the AAS provides scores for benevolent and hostile ageist attitudes. Used together, these psychological instruments provide a multidimensional assessment regarding the presence of prejudice and discrimination toward older people.
These instruments are intended for use by qualified professionals and researchers. The present test is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only. IDRlabs International and the present IDRlabs Ageism Test are independent of any of the above researchers, organizations, or their affiliated institutions. The Ageism Test is based on two scientifically validated instruments for the assessment of this psychological construct. However, free online tests such as this are solely initial considerations of the concept being examined and cannot provide entirely accurate assessments of your personality, character, or any components of your psychological state.
